This is what the whole hockey world expected the New York Rangers to look like when they sign Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, and Wade Redden to insane deals. The Rangers came out flying from all four lines and Henrik Lundqvist was making great saves left and right. This easily could have been a 6-4 game if it weren’t for King Henrik.
Now the big question is: Is this how the Rangers will look every game under John Tortorella? I will need a couple more games of this to consider New York serious contenders in the East again.
Yikes. A total annihilation. The brief amount of the game I watched, the Red Wings were still playing hard even at 5-0. You have to put all of the blame on the goalies.
Can anyone say Thomas McCollum?
The Detroit Red Wings are amazing, but Chris Osgood and Ty Conklin are both below average goaltenders whose stats are inflated from the team in front of them. Imagine Roberto Luongo or Henrik lundqvist on the Red Wings? They would have 40+ shutouts.
I can’t see them getting past San Jose and Calgary in the West with their goaltending currently.
If it wasn’t for Alexander Ovechkin, Zach Parise would get the Hart Memorial Trophy.Parise has had an amazing year and the Devils are playing as a team.
It doesn’t matter who is in net for the New Jersey Devils, they are apparently unstoppable.
Florida had a nice streak going of looking pretty well.
Boston and New Jersey are the big guns in the East, but I expect the Rangers to make some deadline deals and Pittsburgh could get hot going into the playoffs. Then there is the Flyers with Briere coming back and Ovechkin.
Crap, the East playoffs are going to be amazing!
