All one needs to do is examine the “deal” LA is allegedly offering to realize this website sucks.

No way in hell do the Pens give that much up to be cash strapped even more-so than they are now. Terrible, post. May even be more insane than Hockeybuzz.

The Rangers one will never happen. Gomez is making big bucks, and maybe that will offset the Heatley contract, but the Rangers giving up a good chunk of their core? Not happening.

Of all these garbage rumors, I like the St. Louis and Edmonton ones the most for the Sens.

I can only comment about the Ranger “trade” and all I got to say is that you been smoking crack bro, or your source has. I won’t comment on Gomez or how even with Gomez the cap math is WACKED but no way Rangers trade Callahan and/or Girardi, a big chunk of their talented young core. Plus draft picks?

Wow, must be good shit you smoking. So don’t bogart the pipe man, pass it this way.

C’mon NHL Snipers, do you even have any sources for these rumors? You couldn’t even have taken the time say these details came from an anonymous sources.

    8. admin Says:

Alright, the majority of people need to take their tampons out and realize these are just rumors and they have a 99% chance of not being true.

Being rumors, the whole point of them is to spread by word of mouth, so try to have some fun with considering them rather than just throwing a little hissy fit.

The source I got them from didn’t include anything else added on the Sens side other than Heatley. Obviously in the Rangers and Kings deals, they would be overpaying, so I assume something like a draft pick or prospects would be packaged with Heatley to make it more of a balanced deal.

As for Pittsburgh, I know Max Talbot is a great role player and obviously stepped up when the Pens needed him, but this is Dany “fuckin” Heatley we are talking about. He is without a doubt a top ten player in the world right now, and assuming he was on the Pens roster, they would have never made it to Game 7 and Max Talbot wouldn’t have needed to have his clutch goals. Outside of considering salary issues, the Pens would be retarded not to make that deal. They would be without a doubt the best team in the league adding Heatley to their roster.

STL and SJ are just not giving enough for Heatley. Maybe if they threw in a first as well.

EDM deal is a joke. Way too much salary going the Sens way.

The Kings and Rangers deals are the best. I know they are giving up alot, but like I said, this is DANY HEATLEY we are talking about. He is more than worth it.

Like I said before, have some fun considering the fact that these “may” happen, rather than just putting it down right away.

    9. Phil Bourque Says:
      June 18th, 2009 at 2:57 pm

Dany “fuckin” Heatly isn’t worth half of what each of your scenarios offer. He may indeed be one of the top 10 players in the world right now (not named Malkin, Crosby, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Hossa, Ovechkin, Lundquist, Brodeur, Luongo, Nash, Lecavalier, Richards, Chara, Lidstrom, Bouwmeister, Green, Kovalchuk, Gaborik, oh hell I give up), but he’s also a top-5 headcase. With a hefty salary.

And I don’t know if you noticed, but the Penguins are already the best team in the league without him.

    10. The Manic Ranger Says:
      June 18th, 2009 at 2:58 pm

If it’s just a rumor, then why say “this is what some teams have offered”. Completely misleading and irresponsible.

    11. Andrew Says:
      June 18th, 2009 at 3:04 pm

Errr… The King’s “offer” is idiotic. If they did actually offer that for Heatly the Sens would be crazy not to take it. Quick, name one good, young player on their roster.

    12. Willie Says:
      June 18th, 2009 at 3:09 pm

I actually just heard the Pens were offereing Malkin/Crosby/Staal/Shero himself/Mario for Ottawa’s trainer. He is good with hamstring injuries and they are on the up…

Sensbuzz is apparently where the rumor started, but I got it from another site who apparently stole it and took credit for it.

Anyways Heatley is definitely top 10 in the world. Its tough to compare goalies and defensmen so I will take the above list

Malkin, Crosby, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Hossa, Ovechkin, Lundquist, Brodeur, Luongo, Nash, Lecavalier, Richards, Chara, Lidstrom, Bouwmeister, Green, Kovalchuk, Gaborik,

Out of those, I would say 100% that Nash, Richards, Green are not better than Heatley. Lecavalier, Nash, Hossa, and Gaborik (when healthy) are arguable.

Heatley is basically a guarenteed 40 goal scorer every season. His rookie season and 03-04 when he only played 30 or so games are the only times he hasn’t. He played on a dying Sens team this season and still racked up 39 goals.

This guy is legit and any team would be dumb to pass up on him if given the opportunity to get him.

This is a guy who is only 28 and will be in his prime for another 6 or so seasons. I know these rumors are all probably bs, but if they were legit and the Sens accepted them, each team would win the trade over the Sens.

The Pit one is actually the most reasonable out of all of them. Besides the fact that they would be fucked salary speaking, Pitt would be amazing. Kunitz is expendable and Talbot, while loved and a great role player is worth losing for a guy like Heatley. There is that “winger” that we always hear Crosby needs.

    15. morgan Says:
      June 18th, 2009 at 7:23 pm

heatly has demanded two trades now. If the kings give the sens this they will sink. Heatly is a head case. Lecavalier is the player to go after

      June 18th, 2009 at 9:44 pm

are you actually serious when you say “each team would win the trade over the sens” cuz i took that as a joke- trading callahan and girardi (core players) as well as overpaid gomez and not to mention a first and third for Heatley? youre right the rangers totally stole that deal….. yea right! i dont care what stats you throw at me from this guy- hes not worth all that

haha dany ‘fuckin’ heatley aint worth that!

    18. Rusty Says:
      June 20th, 2009 at 5:10 am

Some say the Rangers may buy out Girardi, so I’m not sure how much of acore player he is. rangers have better young D than Girardi

    19. Huh? Says:
      June 20th, 2009 at 7:55 am

Rusty, are you smoking crack? Who is your source on that one?

As for the deals that were supposedly offered, the Rangers and the Kings deals make the most sense for the senators. This is Dany Heatley, and if you want to obtain one of the best players in the league, you gotta be willing to give something up (ie: Callahan and Girardi). These guys will be very good players, but not superstars. As a Ranger fan, I’d prefer the Ranger throw in Dubinsky instead of Callahan. Assuming something worthwhile else besides Heatley (Draft picks, other players) comes back our way, I think i do this deal. It free’s up 2 salary cap headaches the team has this year and one for next year.

    20. Brian Says:
      June 20th, 2009 at 9:03 am

      A few things regarding Heatley:

The reason the Rangers would need to add other players is because Heatley is much, much better than Gomez, but they make the same money. If Gomez made what he is actually worth, around 4-5 million, then Ottawa might do Gomez for Heatley because they while they would be acquiring less talent, they would be getting an affordable 2nd line center and they would be gaining cap relief. But because Gomez makes the money he does and doesn’t have the talent to show for it, other younger and talented players would need to be added to make up for the gap in talent.

Secondly, why the hell would any Ranger fan not want this guy? In 4 out of his 6 1/2 years (he only played 31 games in 03/04 after the accident) he has scored 39 goals or more, included two 50 goal seasons. He has 543 NHL points in just 507 NHL games. He has 35 playoff points in 34 playoff games. He would instantly give the Rangers the scoring winger they so desperately need, and would probably make Drury a 30 goal, 70 point player again. His +/- for his career is +47, and he played on some terrible Atlanta teams early in his career and a terrible Ottawa team this past year. He is 28 years old and in the prime of his career.

Yet some Ranger fans want Gaborik? 65, 65, 48, 77, 17… those are Gaborik’s games played totals over the last 5 seasons. Heatley has played all 82 regular season games 4 times, 77 games in one season, and 71 games in another. If it weren’t for the accident in 03/04, he would have probably played 70+ games in that season too. Plus, on top of that, Gaborik is going to command 8+ million, whereas Heatley is signed at a cap hit of 7.5 million per year. He just completed his first year of the contract, and earned 10 million, meaning in the last 2 years, he will only earn 6 million and 5 million, which would hypothetically make him easier to trade, if necessary.

Moving Gomez+ for Heatley would give the Rangers the great scoring winger they so obviously lack, would probably make Drury a potent offensive force again, would open up a 3rd line center spot for Arten Anisimov (who appears to be ready) and a defense spot for Sanguinetti or another deserving young player, would clear cap space since Callahan is going to command much more than his most recent 600k salary, cap space that is needed to sign Dubinsky and Staal long term.

As a Ranger fan, I would hate to lose Callahan and the first rounder, but Heatley is a top 10 offensive player, and they don’t come cheap.

Brian, that was absolutely beautiful and could not have been written any better. There is a good chance I might have a post regarding the Rangers, their Salary cap issues, and bringing in potential big names like Heatley, Gaborik, Hossa, etc… and use a ton of what you said.

    23. Brian Says:

Thanks, and feel free to use anything that I wrote. I had originally posted that on another blog who reported your initial post (http://nyrangersblog.blogspot.com/2009/06/rangers-offer-package-for-heatley.html), but had not received any reply comments on it, so I posted it here and made a few changes.

Let me know if you need anything else… I would love to somehow contribute to an already established blog.

And do you have a name, or do you just go by admin?

does anybody actually know anything hockey cuz it sounds like some of you dont

your giving up callahan who had a breakout year, girardi who i admit didnt have the great defensive year he had last year but has great upside for what were paying him, gomez who is a waste of space and onn top of all of this a FIRST and THIRD round pick for dany heatley… just my opinion but i do NOT agree with this.. i want a pure goal scorer so badly for this team but its not worth all of this for one guy- it also seems like if he doesnt win a cup in his first 3 or 4 years od being on a team… he wants out so what happens when he aks us for a trade if we dont win a that time?…. we may as well give ottawa the rights to staal and lunqvist while were at it

Really? - If you thoroughly read my post, you would have understood that the package for Heatley is indeed an arm and a leg and then some. However, it would be necessary to include all of that in addition to Gomez because of Gomez’s salary. If Gomez made what he is worth, around $4-5 million, then we would not need to include all of Callahan, Girardi and picks, but possibly 1-2 of those commodities. But because of the fact that we would need to move $7.5 million in salary in order to just make salary room for Heatley, we would have to go overpay in terms of talent to make up for the fact that Heatley and Gomez make the same salary, yet Heatley is light years ahead of Gomez in talent.

      Got it?

    27. PensArmy Says:
      June 21st, 2009 at 10:19 am

You have got to be kiddin me…… let alone the absurdity of the other trades, you think shero is gonna trade Talbot, the guy WHO WON THE STANLEY CUP (essentially) and kunitz, the winger who helped get the pans there for Dany “I’m gonna drive my car 200 friggin mph and crash” Heatly?!?! Yeah he’s good, but it would be like Pittsburgh taking Hossa. Let’s see…..hmm…..a self absorbed player who is talented but has essentially carried his team throughout a few seasons is picked up at the expense of two hard working guys who add character to a locker room. Thanks but no thanks….. I’ll take my locker-room heatly free.
