To Buffalo: Daniel Briere
To Philadelphia: Tim Connolly
For Buffalo: They lose Tim Connolly, who has great potential WHEN in the lineup, which is the big question mark for this injury plagued center. They get Daniel Briere back who was one of the most popular Sabres of all time. They just have to take on his large salary ($8, $7, $7, $7 for the next 4 years) which would basically lock him up as a Sabre for the rest of his career.
For Philadelphia: They are able to release themselves of Briere and his cap hit and bring in a Connolly, a center with very similar playmaking ability, but has a big question mark on if he can stay in the lineup.
Winner of the trade: Wash. Buffalo gets their fan favorite back and can afford to take on the salary, while Philadelphia gets a good center in return for Briere while freeing themselves of cap space to make room for other moves in the offseason.
