Listen. I am all for breast cancer awareness celebrations, but who the hell thought it would be a good idea to paint the ice pink? Seriously this looks like crap and apparently the ice became so bad, it was unplayable. Stick to the pink ties and donations for charities. If this ever hit the NHL, the sport would officially sink lower than soccer, bowling, and racquetball.
The Monsters-San Antonio game Saturday night in The Q was suspended after the ice became unplayable between the first and second periods.
The culprit appears to be pink paint that had been applied under the surface as part of breast-cancer awareness night. Workers could apply the paint only after the Stars On Ice Show concluded Friday night.
Monsters brass and game officials consulted with the American Hockey League office, then made the decision to suspend after a delay of an hour-plus.

My comment for the 2 commnts above are I am a recent breast cancer suvivor and missed last year PINK the rink because I was to sick from chemo. My son brought me a Pink the rink t-shirt and I treasure it!!! The prceeds go for brest cancer research and if they make the rink PINK to generate people and $$$$ I say,” have at it” Don’t like it you won’t be missed! Hockey is way above soccer having 2 sons who still in their 20′s play it is a great sport with a lot of action and the Lake Erie Monsters are the most winng team in Cleveland. So love it or leave it………..A Hocket Lover
