From Larry Brooks:
John Tortorella faces disciplinary action from the NHL after throwing a water bottle from the Rangers’ bench into the stands at 6:33 of the third period of last night’s Game 5, 4-0 defeat to the Caps…Matters of discipline pertaining to coaches fall under the province of the commissioner, not of VP Colin Campbell. It will be up to Bettman to decide whether to merely fine Tortorella or suspend him.

What exactly did the Caps fan do to cause such an over the top response from Torts…?….he asks Avery to control himself and then he pulls this ….not a very good example of self-control eh…
Sniper, after further investigation, from what I’ve read in the NY papers it was Tortorella who squirted water at the fan first…It was then that the fan threw a drink at him…
With that Tortotrella went ballistic and threw a full waterbottle hitting an innocent bystander and even took Voro’ stick and threatened the fan …if this is the case I would say Torts is 100% in the wrong…
Regardless, how can Torts preach self control to Avery then he himself loses all self control resulting in HIS suspension for all important game 6..
A nice openning for Schoenfeld if he wins it…<:~)
John, I think you’re right. From what I have seen, that is the case.
So Torts is in the majority wrong, but I assume the fan did or said something awful to set him off. Either that or he was just pissed about the Rangers sucking.
