Per Montreal Gazette:
Thanks to our resident number-cruncher, Tim Mell, for providing the stats that reveal how mediocre the Canadiens have been since last spring. Going back to early April, the Habs have played 28 games, including four playoff games against Boston.
In that stretch, they have won just TWO games in regulation – which means that 26 times in 28 games, their opponent has gained at least one point for taking the game to overtime. When the games are against conference rivals, those points hurt.
But since last April 6 (a loss to Ottawa) the Habs have only two regulation wins: 5-1 over the Islanders on Oct. 22, and 4-2 over the Coyotes last week. That’s mediocrity.
