nhl a ovechkin crosby 600 Hypothetical draft of the 2000s

Here is a hypothetical NHL draft. I took all of the players from the 2000′s (2000-2009) and threw them into one draft. Here is the first round; there are only 30 picks, one for each team. Here is how I would draft the players:

1. Sidney Crosby    1st Overall, 2005
2. Alexander Ovechkin    1st Overall, 2004
3. Ilya Kovalchuk    1st Overall, 2001
4. Evgeni Malkin    2nd Overall, 2004
5. Henrik lundqvist    205th Overall, 2000
6. Dany Heatley    2nd Overall, 2000
7. Ryan Getzlaf    19th Overall, 2003
8. Niklas Backstrom    4th Overall, 2006
9. Zach Parise   17th Overall, 2003
10. Marian Gaborik    3rd Overall, 2000
11. Rick Nash    1st Overall, 2002
12. Eric Staal    2nd Overall, 2003
13. Jason Spezza    2nd Overall, 2001
14. Jonathon Toews    3rd Overall, 2006
15. Mike Richards    24th Overall, 2003
16. Jeff Carter    11th Overall, 2003
17. Thomas Vanek    5th Overall, 2003
18. Patrick Kane    1st Overall, 2007
19. Corey Perry    28th Overall, 2003
20. Alexander Semin    13th Overall, 2002
21. Shea Weber    49th Overall, 2003
22. Anze Kopitar    11th Overall, 2005
23. Steven Stamkos    1st Overall, 2008
24. Phil Kessel    5th Overall, 2006
25. Bobby Ryan    2nd Overall, 2005
26. Paul Stastny    44th Overall, 2005
27. Marc-Andre Fleury    1st Overall, 2003
28. Dion Phaneuf    9th Overall, 2003
29. Patrice Bergeron    45th Overall, 2003
30. Mike Green    29th Overall, 2004

Anyone disagree with any of the above picks? Let me know what you think.
Update: Hockey Amor made me realize I forgot Semin. I threw him at # 20 and moved everyone down one kicking Johan Franzen out of the 1st round.

Crosby and Ovechkin should be switched! How can you say the 2 time MVP is below a douchebag?!

  2. nathan ho says:

    frazen is a bad choicee

  3. Stokes says:

Sheridan, you have to take off the red-colored glasses. Crosby is a complete player, who has fixed flaws in his game. He’s a complete player. Ovie, while he is the best goal scorer this league will probably ever, is not quite as complete. If i’m going to start my rebuilding with one guy, I’m starting with Sid.
The only thing i disagree with is, taking Lundqvist that high. I like him, he’s usually pretty solid, but he’s not 5th overall solid.

  4. Hockey Amor says:

    Hey,

ovie will end up being better than Rocket Richard, so he’s ahead of Crosby in my books. BTW, you forgot Alexander Semin, he should be no worse than 20th.

  5. admin says:

Great call on Semin. I dont know how I missed him. Edited the list to adjust for him.

  6. Sheridan Ross says:

Hmm I’m not too sure Crosby is “more complete”. After missing numerous games with injury and suspension, ovie is STILL ahead of Crosby in points…not all of it comes from scoring. Who’s got the number one plus minus in the league? Somehow I don’t see Crosby.

  7. Stokes says:

first off, whos got a stanley cup? you guys are both jokes if you think ovie is “more complete.” secondly, ovie plays on the highest scoring team in the league, in which he leads in points. he’d better lead in plus/minus. i mean, its not like hes playing any defense. thirdly, better than rocket richard? that’s the dumbest reason i’ve ever heard. i already stated ovie will be the best goal scorer ever. rocket richard was a great goal scorer in his day, but he wasnt better than gretzky, lemieux or orr. great comparison, moron.

  8. Sheridan Ross says:

Alright, you can have your opinions, but to call someone a moron over theirs is just stupid. You don’t know me at all so hop off the hateraide! Just agree to disagree. But I have to say, Crosby is nothing in comparison to Gretzky.

  9. Anonymous says:

Your crazy. How do you not have datsyuk and zetterberg? two of the most all-around players in the game.

  10. Joe says:

Marc-Andre Fleury 27th? you would rather have Henrik lundqvist Over him?

  11. admin says:

100% without ever thinking twice I would take Lundqvist over Fleury.

Lundqvist is already a top 5 goaltender in the world and arguably # 1.

Fleury has benefited from a good team and he still doesn’t play that well. His team puts up 5 per game and he lets in 3 and gets the win. He is average at best.

  12. bmqdevilsfan says:

Lunqvist is the NOT the best goalie in the world. He’s not even the best in the Atlantic Division. Why do you keep saying that?

  13. Joe says:

True story im not making this up Lunqvist played inline hockey and a scout convinced him to play ice when he was like 13 14
