Supposedly Mike Green was the one who bit Brandon Dubinsky. Either that or it is for the boarding call on Dubinsky.
Per TSN about Brashear:
Washington Capitals forward Donald Brashear has a 1pm et hearing with the National Hockey League to discuss his actions in Game 6 against the New York Rangers.
Brashear will face supplemental discipline for both his exchange with New York’s Colton Orr in the warm-up prior to the game and his late hit on Rangers forward Blair Betts in the first period.
The Capitals defeated the Rangers 5-3 on Sunday to force Game 7 on Tuesday.
Sources tell TSN Betts suffered a broken orbital bone from the Brashear hit and is likely done for the playoffs.
That is for the Caps fans who defended that hit on Betts. That is pretty scummy. No matter who or what team in the league this happened to, you cannot defend headhunting and intent to injure.
Update: There was nothing about Mike Green. ESPN just messed up apparently.
Green was not the biter. He got up off the ice and skated away after being boarded.
Brashear should be suspended for as long as Betts is out…Brashear’s action was bordering on criminal…the elbow was delivered with intent to injure…those cheap shots should be dealt with more severly than a measley one game suspension…
The officiating in the NHL is a joke…they suspend Avery(who I’m no fan of) for making a derogatory REMARK about some starlet groupie and Brashear could possibly have ended Betts career…lets see who gets the sterner penalty…
Avery was not suspended. Torts chose to scratch him because of all the ridiculous things he did the game before.
I think he was referring to the indefinite suspension from the league for the comments he made about Dion Phaneuf’s girlfriend. Not because of getting scratched for game five. Brashear should have gotten a game misconduct or something for that vicious hit. He only got two minutes for roughing and that was because of him and mara getting into in after the hit.

First of all Steve, what the hell is a “dush bag”? How can you spell a swear word wrong and think that your opinion counts for more than just making people laugh? Second of all, before you fly off the handle and condemn people to death, think about the history of this series. Avery has cheap-shot the Capitals all series. Remember the cross-check to the face, and the butt end of the stick to face in game 4? Those are both offenses worthy of suspension. A late shoulder check in the middle of the ice on a player who seems to have absolutely zero peripheral vision should not constitute a suspension. There’s only one person who b*tches more than a Ranger or a Ranger fan, and that’s Sidney Crosby.
Either way did Avery have intentions to knock someone out indefinitely? I highly doubt it. He tries to get into peoples heads. Brashear had intentions to hurt Betts, he was head hunting. How about the fact that Dubinsky was forced to get a tetanus shot because his was bit. Come on… regardless of what team you support that’s just plain stupid.
