Oh man, where do I start. The oldest competitive championship. The hardest to win championship. The speed of the game. The fast paced, end to end action. The unbelievably beautiful scoring plays. The tradition of being a fan of an Original Six team that is finally learning to live up to that tradition. I could go on and on . . .

  2. Spencer Naas says:

I don’t think I can specifically tell you why I love the game of hockey. There are soo many reasons why. From the eruption of the crowd after a goal to the exhilaration you get when you fly down the clean ice surface with the puck. I love the memories you and your friends create in the locker room and on the ice. I love watching your favorite NHL players compete at the highest possible level. All of these reasons are just a fraction of why this game is so great.

Now, I’m not a Blackhawks fan, but this would be interesting. They were first an Original 6 team, and are still a great team today.

However, I love hockey for its intensity, excitement, speed- things you don’t get in a sport like baseball. If you’re off for a second, that could cost you the game. It’s amazing. Being the Devil fan that I am, I enjoy watching them for their youth (especially this year), their excitement, and their pride. Hockey truly is the best sport.

  4. Cody Barrett says:

The Chicago Blackhawks, starting thow show up again in the NHL. First it was Tony Esposito, Bobby Hull, Denis Savard, the Sutters, now you got all star talents Patty Kane Jonathan Toews. Wow so many great players that played for the Hawks. They will be a stanley cup contender fo the next decade. I love it!

I am not even sure where to begin. This is an excelent opportunity to share some wonderful times. I remember hockey from when I was a kid back in the ’60s when my Dad, grandpa and Uncles would sit around and watch the game. In the ’70′s I won my first hockey bet with the Flyers winning the game, we had bet a case of beer but I never did get to collect ( I was underage) but I did get a RC cola. I look back at all the changes and was glad I was able to experience hockey long ago. I wonder at the risks they took with no helmets, and do I ever remember learning some colorful words with the mics at the players bench and the penlty box, I think Bobby Clark was why they took them out, man could he bust out a very colorful sentence no 9 year old girl should ever hear. In the ’80′s I had a wonderful time with my sons collecting hockey memorablia. Both my sons had a hand at playing the game. I just got my 2 year old grand daughter her first stick and puck for her birthday, can’t start them out to soon. Today Hockey is still one of my passions, I Cheer for the home team but will watch any team play, a good game is to be proud of. During the Olympics I watch 3 games one day my kids said MOM no more hockey, so I said ok no hockey for tomorrow we can go to the museum and goof around. I almost dropped when I walked in I was in heaven they had an exhibit of THE ROCKET Maurice Richard. Good thing my older daughter was with me, she came up to me and said something I looked at my watch and an hour had gone by, it kinda set me aback because it felt like seconds had gone by I just lost myself in memories, it was the ultimate. I have been watching hockey for over 40 years I figure another 40 and I am looking forward to it. Thank you for putting upthe site and to who ever wins congrats. I leave with a smile on my face….

  7. Mildred Sulecki says:

The Chicago Blackhawks are another one of my favorite teams.
Stan Mikita,is not only one of the greatest Blackhawks players but he is one of the founders of Stan Makita’s Hockey School for the Hearing Impaired. This school is held every June in Chicago. The organization is AHIHA (American Hearing Impaired Hockey Association).
My grandson first attended the school when he was only 4 years old. He is 18 now and playing college hockey.
Many of the Blackhawk players have been involved in helping out this school so I naturally have become a Blackhawk fan.
Hockey is the greatest game on Earth.

  8. Qais Hafsi says:

For the speed of the game, the intensity, but above all, the beauty of this sport, which manages to channel aggressiveness in a contructive and visually stunning way (most times…. I am not including headshots in this, which I find should be outright banned, %?$**%$*#$%$#%@%@*@!@!!!)

  9. Heidi S says:

My earliest memories of NHL hockey are of sitting on the couch with my dad watching the Chicago Blackhawks on WGN after setting the antenna rotator to pick up the signal. The days of Tony Esposito and Stan Mikita and Bobby and Dennis Hull – early 1970′s – just after the NHL expansion, when you could still know almost all the players on all the teams. The Original Six. There was a pride and an honor in being a fan of one of those home town fans. We’d play floor hockey in gym and fight over who got to be whom, “No! *I* get to be Bobby Hull!” in our sneakers with the rubber toe caps as we slapped the orange plastic puck from end to end over the varnished wood floors. In the winter, we would pester dad to give us the go ahead to get out onto the pond when he was sure the ice was thick enough. We’d cut the cattails down to make our goal nets at either end using hand-me-down equipment from our neighbor who was a P.E. teacher. We’d hit the ice as soon as the sun came up on saturday and skate until our moms would drag us in for dinner, inhale our food and go back out until it was too dark to see the puck against the ice. We’d fly off the bus in the afternoons and tie on our skates at the picnic table and be on the ice after school until our dads got home and it was time to go in and do homework and have dinner. We lived and breathed hockey. We lived for our ice time on the pond. I was lucky enough to grow up playing true pond hockey. And those nights on the couch with Dad watching the Blackhawks were some of the best times of my life growing up – to be able to bond with my dad and have pride in my home team and love a sport that still has ethics and sportsmanship. (The only sport where the men shake hands after every game, thank you very much!) Now I enjoy my city’s junior league team. I cheer our local high school and traveling leagues. I’m involved in our local rink’s adult men’s “beer league” and former-pro skate. I’m a sports massage therapist and was lucky enough to do a brief internship with the Ft. Wayne Komets hockey team. I LOVE HOCKEY. It is an indelible part of my life. And no matter what city I live in, I will ALWAYS be a Chicago Blackhawks FAN!!!

  10. Ben S says:

hockey is a game for the young and old, its a game where every week on saturday the family gets together for a tradition. traditions like watching hockey night in canada and the don cherry segments. growing up i love hockey more then any other sports people ask me why but there really is so much to say. for instance the fastist sport on earth. the fact that it brings people or different ethnicities and countries together is why i love the game of hockey.

    Ben

  11. Dave says:

I love hockey because it is a combination of speed, power, fitnese, & skill!

  12. Derek says:

I LOVE HOCKEY, BEST SPORT EVER! HUGE CHICAGO SPORTS FAN, GO HAWKS!

    im from chicago

  14. Erik Young says:

I love the game of hockey because it is so fast paced and the best players in the world come and play in the nhl like chicago

  15. Darlene Geloso says:

Love hockey not only because it is unlike any other sport, but the after the game, how the players are community people and also family people.

  16. Michele says:

I love hockey for the speed and agility of the players. I also love the game because there is nothing more exciting than seeing my favorite team’s goaltender rob someone on a breakaway, except for when a guy on my team dekes the opposing goalie out of his jock to score on a breakaway. That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy a good hit or an awesome fight too, because who doesn’t?

I also love seeing it go to another level when the playoffs start… and there is nothing more amazing than watching the unabridged joy on the faces of the players when they raise the Cup.

  17. Adam Jazwiec says:

I love hockey because of Eddy Belfour and Adam Burish

  18. Katie says:

I love hockey because it is the most exciting sport and it is a good stress release. I can’t even skate well, let alone play hockey, and to see those guys get on the ice and do what they do is amazing. The players use speed, balance, and skill to put on a great game. I love how the fans are so nice as well! You can talk to random people and have a great conversation at a game because you share the same love of the game. And to see the lamp light up just gives you an electric feeling of joy. The players fight someone on the ice and then leave it on the ice. There is immense respect with this sport and I love it.

  19. Mandi says:

I love hockey because of the speed, energy, and passion of the players for their great sport!

  20. EM says:

I love hockey because it means so much to my boyfriend. It taught him how to be tough when he needs to be and stand up for friends when he has to. Hockey helped make him who he is. And since I love who he is, I love hockey!
